For 10 onigiri
Ingredients:
- 1/4 Pumpkin
- 3 tblsp soy sauce
- 2 tblsp honey
- Japanese chili pepper (to taste)
- Sesame furikake
- Water
Prep the Pumpkin:
- Cut and scoop out the seeds from the pumpkin. Cut it into your preferred shapes.
Cooking:
- In a non-stick pan, place the sliced pumpkin, soy sauce, honey, finely chopped Japanese chili pepper, and a splash of water.
- Cover the pan with a slight opening and cook over medium heat, allowing the pumpkin to cook slowly. Let the liquid reduce.
- Once the liquid has reduced, let the pumpkin caramelize slightly.
Finishing Touch:
- Add the sesame furikake to the pumpkin in the pan. Mix gently to coat the pumpkin with the flavors.
- Remove from heat and use this deliciously glazed pumpkin to top your onigiris.
