For 10 onigiri


  • 1/4 Pumpkin
  • 3 tblsp soy sauce
  • 2 tblsp honey
  • Japanese chili pepper (to taste)
  • Sesame furikake
  • Water

Prep the Pumpkin:

  • Cut and scoop out the seeds from the pumpkin. Cut it into your preferred shapes.


  • In a non-stick pan, place the sliced pumpkin, soy sauce, honey, finely chopped Japanese chili pepper, and a splash of water.
  • Cover the pan with a slight opening and cook over medium heat, allowing the pumpkin to cook slowly. Let the liquid reduce.
  • Once the liquid has reduced, let the pumpkin caramelize slightly.

Finishing Touch:

  • Add the sesame furikake to the pumpkin in the pan. Mix gently to coat the pumpkin with the flavors.
